I built Noodler to play the puzzles I enjoy. Pick one below, solve it, come back tomorrow for the next.

About Noodler

I've always been one for puzzles. I like setting them and I like solving them. Currently Noodler exists as a platform for me to do just that: Build puzzles that I want to solve. So far we have three: Quipher, Sudoku and Alibi.

Quipher started as a way to turn a substitution cipher into a fun, code-cracking game - it's basically a daily cryptogram. The payoff is an interesting quote that gets you thinking.

I created Sudoku as I really struggled to find ones that I thought had the right balance between being solvable and too easy. These puzzles are calibrated to be just hard enough to still be fun.

Alibi's the newest one. It's a nod to my love of murder mysteries. It's a nightly logic case where you work through the clues and name the culprit. I'm still perfecting this one so you might see some changes here.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Quipher, Sudoku, and Alibi?

Quipher is a daily cryptogram — you crack a substitution cipher to reveal a hidden quote. Sudoku is the classic number-placement grid, calibrated to be hard but fair. Alibi is a nightly murder-mystery logic puzzle where you deduce the culprit from a set of clues.

Which one should I start with?

Whichever sounds like the most fun to you. Quipher and Alibi lean towards word and logic deduction with a narrative payoff at the end; Sudoku's the more familiar numbers puzzle if you'd rather start with something classic.

Do I need to play every puzzle every day?

No — they're entirely independent of each other. Play one, all three, or dip in and out; nothing carries over between them, and nothing expires beyond that day's puzzle.

Is Noodler free, and do I need an account?

Yes, completely free, with no account or signup for any of the puzzles. Everything runs in your browser and your progress is saved locally on your own device.

Can I play days I've missed?

Yes — any puzzle with an archive (linked from that puzzle's own page) lets you replay past days, though archived days don't count towards your streak, which is reserved for consecutive real days.
